Pre Arrival
Melita Trains is a sightseeing trackless train tour service that departs from an established terminus outside Mdina in Museum Esplanade. The terminus is situated in front of the Domus Romana Museum (Roman Villa).
Our website www.melitatrains.com gives detailed information about our services together with our brochure which is available from Tourist Information Offices in Valletta and Mdina besides main local hotels. A sign next to the terminus details the route of the tour and the places of interest that can be viewed whilst the train is in motion.

The trackless train tour service is available daily from 10am with tours on the hour every hour till 4pm. We do not operate on Good Friday, Christmas Eve, Christmas and New Years Day.
The trackless train tour service is complimented by a running commentary available in seven languages, namely English, Maltese, Italian, French, German, Spanish and Russian. During any tour two languages from the seven available are played. The decision which two languages are played is decided just before the tour departs with agreement with the patrons on board the train.

Accessibility
The trackless train is accessible to all and is equipped with an environmentally friendly EURO IV engine. We have helping aids for elderly and disabled persons to alight the train. In addition we have room for one wheelchair user at the rear of the train who is lifted through an appropriate platform. At the terminus, which has no shelter, there are four wrought iron benches serving as resting places for patrons wishing to take the train tour service. Patrons are assisted by the staff present at the terminus to alight the train and for information on the service provided.
Car Parking Facilities
In the immediate vicinity of the train terminus in front of the Domus Romana in Museum Espanade, Mdina there exist two car parks; one just opposite the train terminus in Museum Street and the other next to Mdina Bastions adjacent to the Greek Gate, Mdina at approximately 50 metres away from the train terminus. The two car parks can accommodate approximately 100 car spaces each. The car park in front of the terminus has designated car spaces for persons with special needs. In addition, at the train terminus two designated car spaces for persons with special needs are available. A third car park accommodating approximately 50 car spaces is also available next to Mdina Main Gate and the playing field. This car park is some 250 metres from the train terminus and has designated car spaces for persons with special needs. All three car parks are free to the public and covered with adequate hot rolled asphalt. The roads and paths from the car park are smooth.
Public Toilets
Public toilets for males, females and persons with special needs are available at the centre of Howard Gardens Mdina. The toilets are approximately 150m away from the train terminus.
Future Plans
The management of Melita Trains is committed to provide a quality sightseeing train tour service. In this regard the partnership is always at the forefront to include the latest technology on the train. The future plans include the installation of photovoltaic panels to generate the necessary power to drive the electronic systems that operate the running commentary on the train.
